Abstract:It is important how to choose the grinding parameters, as the cost of grinding is very high. The influences of grinding parameters to the surface roughness and the production efficiency were discussed. Aiming at the cutting parameters of outer cylindrical grinding, an optimization model which was based on the minimum process cost of grinding was established. The model was constrained by roughness of the machined surface, the stiffness of the part, the power of the grinding machine, the parameters of the grinding machine, and the grinding allowance. The variables of the optimization included the grinding allowance, the lengthwise travel rate of table and the depth of cut. Finally, an experiment case of a motor shaft was performed to verify the validity of the optimization model. Compared with the traditional methods, process costs have been reduced by almost 18%.
