Abstract:Tensile property of optical fiber cable is an important factor which can affect the quality of optical fiber communication. According to the test requirements of an institute for the equipment, a wheel winding test equipmentis developed to test tensile property of optical fiber cable.Test principle and constitution of the equipment were firstly introduced. Then mechanical structure, controlandtest subsystem and software of the equipmentand other functional moduleswere studiedin detail.Afterwards a tensile property experiment of a 025 mm2cross section area ofoptical fiber cable was successfully performed with the equipment.Study shows that tensile property parameters (load, displacement, extension, strain, stress, and etc.) can be automatically tested with good accuracy and stabilityby the equipment, and six relation curves (loadextension, loaddisplacement, loadtime, extensiontime, displacementtime and stressstrain) can be dynamically drawn timely. The test equipment has been used in an institute and met allthe requirements of testing optical fiber cable well.
