The design and application of ram which was one of the main components of gantry machine tool was introduced. The structure design of the ram was introduced. The key technologies of dynamic balance and thermal balance of active rotation and transmission components in the ram group were discussed and analyzed. The problems and solutions in the design, development and application of the ram were introduced.
