Abstract:To optimize polishing parameters, the surface roughness prediction model of titanium alloy in polishing was built by central composite response surface methodology. The variance analyses were applied to checking the significances of the surface roughness model and the polishing parameters. The effect of polishing parameters on surface roughness and surface topography were also studied. The results show that the prediction model can be applied effectively to predict the surface roughness. Flap wheel size, polishing speed and feed speed have very obvious influence on the surface roughness. The surface roughness decreases with the increase of flap wheel size, polishing speed and feed speed. The surface topography is in good consistency, uplift and ravine are also found on the surface topography.
